# Tragedy Strikes: Woman Thrown from Georgia Overpass After Being Struck by Car

Early Monday, Jan. 1, tragedy struck Georgia’s highways when a woman was hit by a car while waiting for her car to be loaded onto tow truck on Interstate 20 eastbound near the Fulton Industrial Boulevard exit.

According to news outlets, the woman was waiting for her car when she was struck by the oncoming vehicle and knocked off the overpass. The impact sent her off of the overpass, and she passed away shortly after at the scene of the crash.

## Crash Closes Multiple Lanes on Interstate 20

After the incident, multiple lanes on the interstate were closed while the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) began to investigate. Since then, the lanes have since reopened.

## Injuries from Crash

Two people in the car that hit the woman were taken to a hospital with injuries, police told WSB-TV. As of now, GDOT has not released any additional details concerning the investigation status, but more information may come to light in the following days.
